CALYLOPHUS (Oenothera) drummondii. Sundrops. Texas. A bushy, slender stemmed perennial, about 1' high and perhaps twice that in breadth. Its stems are closely lined by dark, narrow 1-3" leaves. Clustered at the shoot tips in summer and fall are brilliant yellow, broad petalled flowers, about 2" wide in our material. Another sundrops worth growing is C. hartwegii var. fendleri. It grows more nearly prostrate and has larger leaves than C. drummondii, but is otherwise similar. Both are excellent plants for open banks and other exposed, less tended parts of the garden. Sun, reasonably well drained soil, moderate to occasional watering. Hardy to 10 o or less.
