COBAEA
scandens. Cup-and-saucer vine. Central and South America. A lush, rampant
vine, reaching 20 or more in one season. It has large dark green, several-parted
leaves. Many 2" cup shaped blossoms colored maroon to purple, each attached
to a saucer of sepals, grace the plant from spring to fall. Its one glaring
liability is tenderness to cold. Sun or part shade, most soils, moderate watering.
Tops damaged at 25-30o,
though it may resprout after harder freezes.
