LESSINGIA filaginifolia ‘Silver Carpet’. California, widespread. This is doubly a new name for an old friend. It is the same plant once offered by Wintergreen Nursery as Corethrogyne leucophylla, and received from Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. It has been botanically reclassified, as seen in the new Jepson Manual, while the good folks at SBBG have seen fit to bestow a cultivar name on this particular selection. It is a prostrate, closely branched shrublet, with toothed, grey green 1-2" leaves. In summer and fall it is dotted with lavender pink daisies. Sun, well drained soil, moderate to occasional watering. Probably hardy to 15oF or less.
