PATERSONIA drummondii. An evergreen Australian iris ally with densely clustered shoots from a short, branched rhizome. The light green, narrow 1" leaves are held rigidly erect in close fans. The flower stems arise in summer carrying beautiful lavender, iris-like blossoms. Each lasts only one day, but several more appear in succession from the same stem. P. glabrata is a very similar, but larger, species. Sun, well drained soil, moderate watering. Hardiness uncertain (probably 20oF or less).
