TSUGA canadensis Pendula. The species is typically represented by majestic forest trees, found across Canada and in Alaska. The current selection is one of many highly atypical, cultivated forms. It is shrubby and spreading in habit, growing 3-6' high and 6-10' broad in any human lifetime. The younger branches droop gracefully. Short, soft needles, dark green above, silvery beneath, are held nearly flat in opposing rows. Small roundish cones may develop at the shoot tips after many years. Sun or light shade, reasonably well drained soil, moderate watering. Hardy to below 0oF.
