AGERATINA occidentalis. Mountains of the West. This is a perennial allied to Eupatorium but much more delicate in appearance than most members of that genus. It produces small colonies from underground rhizomes, each stem branching and rising 1-2'. Small, nearly triangular grey-green leaves line the stems. Borne at the shoot tips over most of the summer are clusters of small pink “puffs”, basically the central portion of a normal daisy, with protruding stamens. Winter deciduous. This is a pretty plant for the rock garden or containers, thriving in sun, with well drained soil and moderate watering. Hardy to well below 0oF.
