CAMPSIS. Trumpet creeper. Eastern U.S., China. These are rampant deciduous vines with spectacular flowers, largely forgotten in much of California, where the more tender evergreen Bignonia allies can be grown. They have ropy stems dressed during the growing season with large, glossy leaves, each divided into several conspicuously toothed leaflets. In late summer they display clusters of large scarlet to yellow trumpets at the shoot tips. Sun or light shade, most soils, moderate watering when established. Hardy to 0oF or less when established.

radicans ‘Yellow Trumpet’. This is a most unusual selection of the Common Trumpet Creeper. Though typical of the group in habit, it seems a bit less rampant than usual. The leaves are of lighter green than most selections and the 3" flowers, a beautiful golden yellow.

x tagliabuana ‘Madame Galen’. A hybrid between C. grandiflora and C. radicans, this selection combines the broad-faced blossoms of the first parent with the vigor and hardiness of the second. It has beautifully lacquered, dark green leaves. The blossoms are nearly 3" across and orange-red at the face, with lighter shading on the tube.
