x HALIMIOCISTUS. Rockrose. Intergeneric hybrids between Cistus and Halimium (both described in this text), with an interesting range of habit, foliar and floral characteristics. The following are rugged, mounding shrubs, useful either alone or in a loose ground cover, especially on exposed banks. Sun, well drained soil, occasional to no supplemental watering when established. The following should be hardy to around 10oF.
sahucii. An outstanding hybrid, forming a 1-2 by 3-4 mound densely set with dark green, narrow leaves. The plant is covered in spring by 1½" white blossoms with yellow centers. Sun, well drained soil, little or no watering when established.
wintonensis. One of my favorite new plant acquaintances. It grows about 2 high with 4-5 spread. The stems are thickly clad by soft, furry greyish green leaves. In spring and early summer many 2" blossoms, the petals pure white, each with a purple spot at the base, blanket the plant.
