POLYGONATUM odoratum (japonicum) ‘Variegatum’. Solomon's seal. Japan. One of the most elegant of our shade-loving perennials. Gracefully arching 2' stems are produced in greater numbers each year from a branched underground rhizome. They are neatly lined with 4" pointed, lily-like leaves with a satiny sheen, colored bright green with cream margins. Along the new stems in spring are pairs of pendant, green and white bells.
