ENTELEA arborescens. New Zealand. An interesting large shrub or small tree of the linden family, growing 8-20’ high and upright-oval in form. It has thick stems carrying beautiful bright green, heart-shaped leaves up to 8" long. Clustered at the shoot tips in late spring are clusters of 1" white flowers with conspicuous stamens and golden anthers, similar to those of the related Sparmannia. This is a showy, unusual specimen for a featured spot in the landscape. It thrives in sun or light shade and most soils, with moderate to regular watering. Hardy to around 20oF.
