HESPERANTHA buchrii. An elegant small, South African bulb (cormous perennial, actually). It has closely clustered corms, from which the seasonal shoots appear in late fall. Each carries a narrow fan of 6-10" grasslike leaves. In early spring one or more slender, arching stems issue from each fan and carry several star-like blossoms, white on the inner surface and pink on the outer. A charming plant for rock gardens and containers. Sun or light shade, well drained soil, drying completely from late spring to early fall. Hardy to around 18oF.
