LEUCOPHYLLUM langmanae ‘Lynn’s Everblooming’. I have long admired the Texas sage, L. frutescens. However, living and growing plants on the coast is a bit of a handicap in their case. Though they appear to thrive, they flower only sparingly. This one, received recently from Pat McNeal, performs quite differently. It is a low, compact shrub with short, broad, grey-green leaves. Nestled in the leaf axils much of the summer are irregular lavender-pink blossoms, about 3/4" across. This is a perfect candidate for dry banks and mixed plantings with dryland natives. It thrives in full sun, with well drained soil and moderate to only occasional watering. Probably hardy to 10oF or less.
