MILIUM effusum Aureum. Bowles golden grass. Europe, Eastern U.S. and Japan (the species, not this cultivar). A woodland grass, useful for adding a spot of cheery color to a shady nook. It makes small thickets, with mostly erect but somewhat floppy stems up to 18" high. Both leaves and stems are bright, slightly greenish yellow when young, becoming greener as they mature. The flower clusters are open and delicate. In their aftermath may come many seedlings, which fortunately are easy to pull out. The plant is winter-deciduous, except in very mild climates. Hardy to about 0oF.
