PODOCARPUS. A large group of conifers, mostly of tropical and sub-tropical regions, which range in habit from huge trees to nearly matting shrubs. We grow two strikingly different selections. Sun or light shade near the coast, part shade inland, reasonably well drained soil, moderate watering. Hardiness varies.

nivalis. A low, spreading shrub, probably under 3' tall in this selection. It is closely branched and set with short, thick, very dark green leaves somewhat resembling those of a small yew. Suitable for containers and larger rock gardens. Probably 10oF or less.
