PSEUDOPANAX. A small group of shrubby Aralia allies from New Zealand. All are grown for their thick, evergreen leaves of various sizes, shapes and markings. They make good container plants, among other uses. Sun or part shade, most soils, moderate watering. Hardy to 20oF or less.
ferox. A bizarre plant, with few branches and erect stems, growing slowly to about 20'. Rather widely spaced along the stems are pencil-like leaves set at intervals with jagged triangular teeth. The leaves are strongly tinted with bronze on younger plants, becoming greener in the mature stage. It never fails to amaze new visitors to the nursery.
x lessonii Linearifolius. A bushy but rather narrow shrub growing 6-8' tall. Its most distinctive feature is large, shiny, deep green leaves, divided handlike into five narrow leaflets.
