SCHIZOPHRAGMA integrifolium Moonlight. Southern China and Taiwan. A climbing Hydrangea ally, similar in general appearance to Hydrangea anomala. After a slow start, it can grow 30' or more high, attaching itself to any support with adhesive roots. It has nearly heart shaped, deeply veined leaves up to 6" long, dark and shiny above, paler beneath. For several weeks in summer it is decorated by large, openly branched clusters of yellowish cream flowers. These include both small fertile flowers and sterile flowers composed of a single, colored 2-3" sepal tipping each stalk. This is a dazzling specimen for those who have space for it, or at least a tree for it to climb. Sun, most soils, moderate to regular watering. Hardy to 10oF or less.
