to Suncrest Nurseries Inc. Suncrest is a wholesale nursery situated near
Watsonville, on California's Central Coast. We are devoted to broadening
the gardening experience with a wide variety of plants suitable for outdoor
culture in coastal and near-coastal California. Major categories include
unusual showy trees; evergreen and deciduous flowering shrubs; bamboos;
hardy to subtropical vines; flowering perennials; grasses and grasslike
plants; bulbous, cormous and tuberous perennials, and ferns. We offer a
number of familiar plant selections in high demand. However, our special
focus is on trial and distribution of worthy new plants, and on helping
to revive interest in those which have been unfairly neglected over the
years.

The public portion of the site, maintained especially for private gardeners,
consists of a transcription of A Guide
to Ornamental Plants for Coastal California, our descriptive catalog,
which is also available for purchase in book form.
Guide entries are indexed in several ways. You can search for them alphabetically
by genus, or find them grouped by
plant type. Some examples are trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials.
If you have an interest in particular climate regions or would like to know
where particular plants come from, you can browse by geographic
origin. There is a particular emphasis on natives of California
and other Mediterranean climate areas.
Particular landscaping situations, for example poolside and "problem
sites", are described along with more specific listings in a section
on special uses.
You will also find various informative articles on a variety of
garden and plant topics. Finally, you can download
several larger publications, including a complete annotated list of the
plants we grow, via the Publications page.
