Arctostaphylos uva ursi is primarily a low, often prostrate coastal species where it occurs in California, though it is circumboreal in its range and is widespread in northern latitudes. It is extremely popular for use as a ground cover. The selection 'Pt. Reyes' has closely set stiff, dark green leaves, clusters of white flowers and red berries. Best with moderate watering or some shading in hot summer areas.
