Thimbleberry has a wide distribution throughout western North America, with populations in some northern states as well. It puts up erect stems with broad soft green leaves. Single white flowers are ornamental and followed by curious pale red, sweet fruits that resemble thimbles. It spreads by underground stems and will prosper in cool sun or shade with moderate watering.
