The Jelly Beans Mimulus hybrids are a series of selections made over a 20 year span by Richard Persoff. His goal is to select "bomb proof" plants--monkeyflowers that are less sticky, and less brittle, that tolerate moderate water without losing any of their drought tolerant traits. From many thousands of seedlings, he has selected shapely plants with flowers in vibrant colors that also are low care, garden tolerant shrubs. In this selection, tawny orange flowers fade to a lighter shade; they appear in abundance in spring and summer. Grow in sun to light shade; moderate water and pruning will encourage repeat bloom. Hardy to 20-25 degrees.
