Velvety deep red flowers are on the purplish side of red, and appear in abundance in spring and summer on this compact monkeyflower. The Jelly Beans Mimulus hybrids are a series of selections made over a 20 year span by Richard Persoff. His goal is to select "bomb proof" plants--monkeyflowers that are less sticky, less brittle, and that tolerate moderate water without losing any of their drought tolerant traits. From many thousands of seedlings, he has selected shapely plants with flowers in vibrant colors that also are low care, garden tolerant shrubs. Grow in sun to light shade; moderate water and pruning will encourage repeat bloom. Hardy to 20-25 degrees.
