This tiny perennial is related to the strawflowers (one would never guess it except under a hand lens). It forms a tight, almost crusty mat, crowded with tiny, grey-woolly leaves. The flower heads appear merely as pale yellow specks on the foliage in summer. A fine subject for rock gardens and containers, gaining character as it piles up on itself in age. Sun near the coast, light shade inland, well drained soil, moderate watering.
