Chinese red sage is valued for its medicinal roots, but it is an attractive ornamental plant as well. Divided grey green leaves stay in low clumps; spikes of lavender blue flowers to 18 inches arch over the leaves in early to mid summer. Best in sun to light shade, in reasonably well drained soil with regular to moderate watering.
