This is one of the most beautiful shrubs of the myrtle family, growing round and dense to about 6 feet high. It has closely set pointed leaves, up to an inch long. These are deep green and glossy above, with purplish red new leaves. Small white flowers with a pink flush and dense brushes of stamens decorate the plants in summer. Then come wonderfully fragrant and quite delicious deep red fruits. Sun or light shade, most soils, moderate watering. Hardy to 15-20 degrees F.
